basketballs - pistons misfire

Let me start with Melbourne's newest addition to the noisey-psych-onslaught thing happening. Pistons Misfire, these guys have just played a handful of shows around town, I caught their first as a three piece (basically the lineup is Kamikaze Trio with a different drummer) which didn't really do much for me, although I was a bit inebriated to pay attention, but a couple of weeks later they had expanded to feature two drummers (from the Cheats and Group Seizure) plus extra guitarist!

They nail the dual-drummer thing, with one basically a powerhouse metronome keeping the beat and the other playing more syncopated/percussive colourful bits. Vocals by Sam (Digger and the Pussycats / Kamikaze Trio) splurt out drenched in echo, reverb and 'zainy' effects like you would find on a suburban guitarists multi-effect do-it-all pedal thing, which is a nice touch. the guitars sounds good, fuzzy, one keeping rythym one on the freak out, the bass making each bit a 'song'. damn i'm really nailing this blog ..
